Localizado na Serra d\u2019Ossa, entre Estremoz e Redondo, o Convento de S\u00e3o Paulo \u00e9 agora um espa\u00e7o requintado e de visita obrigat\u00f3ria. Erguido no ano de 1182, em pleno Alentejo, por monges pertencentes \u00e0 ordem de S\u00e3o Paulo Ermita, \u00e9 um dos edif\u00edcios mais ic\u00f3nicos da sua \u00e9poca, sobretudo por ainda preservar, de forma perfeita, alguns dos seus tra\u00e7os originais.
Pelos seus quartos e corredores passaram verdadeiras lendas da Hist\u00f3ria de Portugal, como D. Sebasti\u00e3o, D. Jo\u00e3o IV e D. Catarina de Bragan\u00e7a. Prova disso \u00e9 a tela restaurada pelo Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga de Lisboa, existente na Biblioteca do Convento, que atesta a passagem de Sebasti\u00e3o por este espa\u00e7o, nos finais de 1577.<\/p>\n

S\u00e3o 54 mil os azulejos que comp\u00f5e as paredes do Convento de S\u00e3o Paulo. Apontada como a maior cole\u00e7\u00e3o privada do Pa\u00eds, o azul-cobalto que cobre os corredores e escadarias do convento data dos reinados de D. Jo\u00e3o V (1706-1750) e D. Jos\u00e9 I (1750-1777), e configura um conjunto monumental produzidos pelas melhores oficinas da cidade de Lisboa.
Parte desta cole\u00e7\u00e3o foi encomendada por patronos para espa\u00e7os espec\u00edficos do Convento, como os da Capela do Bispo onde \u00e9 poss\u00edvel reconhecer a assinatura de Ant\u00f3nio de Oliveira Bernardes ou os da Capela de Nossa Senhora da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o, cuja autoria \u00e9 atribu\u00edda a Gabriel del Barco. No entanto, a maioria dos pain\u00e9is \u00e9 de autoria desconhecida, apenas assinado com o monograma de P.M.P e constituem um caso not\u00e1vel de azulejaria.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As fontes florentinas s\u00e3o outro dos \u00edcones do Convento e que podem ser encontradas tanto no seu exterior como interior. A Fonte do Le\u00e3o, junto \u00e0 entrada principal do espa\u00e7o, foi destino de romarias durante v\u00e1rios anos. No Jardim das Quatro Esta\u00e7\u00f5es, encontra-se a Fonte do Drag\u00e3o classificada como Monumento Nacional. J\u00e1 na Portaria Nova encontra-se a Fonte dos Golfinhos datada da segunda metade do s\u00e9culo XVIII. O Jardim dos Novi\u00e7os \u00e9 outro dos espa\u00e7os ic\u00f3nicos do Convento. Adornado tamb\u00e9m com uma fonte, o destaque vai para as suas terracotas, esculturas que podem ser encontradas nos seus nichos, datadas do s\u00e9c. XVIII. <\/p>\n
